What does Veteran mean to You?

Today we celebrate Veteran's Day. For hundreds of years men and women have served our country to give us the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. After taking part in the program this morning take some time to answer the question: What does Veteran mean to You?

Should Silly Bandz Be Banned From School?

Silly Bandz are everywhere!! Many schools across America are banning students from bring Silly Bandz to school. Twain has not banned SIlly Bandz yet but there is a chance that a school-wide ban could happen.

Many teachers say that Silly Bandz cause arguments between students, distract students from doing work and even see students stealing other students Silly Bandz.

Current Event: Chilean Miner Rescue

As we have discussed in class, one of the most amazing stories of our lifetime is happening today in Chile. Thirty-three miners who have been trapped beneath over 2,000 feet of rock are being rescued after 69 days. This event teaches us about the human spirit and never losing hope.

Comment on this event describing how it makes you feel.

TFK Response: Kids Need More Sleep

In a recent article of Time For Kids, we read about how kids are not getting enough sleep. The article stated, "Experts say children ages 5 to 12 should get 10 to 11 hours of sleep each night. But according to the National Sleep Foundation, kids are only sleeping an average of nine and half hours a night."

Think about these questions:
Does the amount of sleep you get affect how well you perform in school? Does taking a test while you are tired make it harder to focus?
How does your mood changes when you are tired?
How does a lack of sleep affect your daily school-work?

Please answer this question with a short paragraph explaining your answer.
