Current Event: Chilean Miner Rescue

As we have discussed in class, one of the most amazing stories of our lifetime is happening today in Chile. Thirty-three miners who have been trapped beneath over 2,000 feet of rock are being rescued after 69 days. This event teaches us about the human spirit and never losing hope.

Comment on this event describing how it makes you feel.

Consider these questions:
What are some challenges the miners might face now that they are out?
Why is this event so remarkable?
What does this teach you about perserverance?
What would you do if you were trapped for 70 days?

The challenges the miners might face are seeing actaule sunlight for the first time and doing activities that they used to do before they went mining. It is remarkable because this is the first time ever to get trapped miners out. If i were trapped underground for 70 days i would go insane because i am very very claustriphobic. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

it is a amazing thing that the miners survived for 70 days 2000 feet under the earths surface. It is also a one rare time that you are going to see miners survive for 70 days and not come out of the mine not being insane. I feel happy that for all the miners and there families that they survived so long under ground. I also think that other miners that get trapped might have a Little more hope getting freed because they know it is possible to get freed because the Chile miners got free.

I think the miners are exited to see sun light and there family. I think the challenging part for the miners was being stuck under ground for 70 days.

It is amazing how the miners survived 70 days 2000 feet underground! Their survival showed that they must have had incredible teamwork down there. It must have been very stressful for the miner's families as well as the miners. It's interesting how they drilled so far underground to rescue the miners. Because it was so moist down there, the miners might have a fungus problem in their lungs that they'll have to get rid of. It's good to know they're out!

It makes me feel happy that the miners are out.A challenge they might face is facing the sun when it was pich blake down there. It is remarkable because there was nothing like the capsule made before. Perserverance teaches me to never give up on a job or accident. I would be scared to be down there without any light. But I would not give up on getting out.

I think it is a good sign that all the miners were safe and no one got ingered during the time the miners were in the Sajose mine.It is awsome how the rescuers made an elevater that goes into the mine and gets all the miners out.If i were one of the miners i would hipervenalate and freak out.

This makes me feel that mining is a very dangerous job.It also makes me feel that history can be mad bye things that are just every day stuff that turn into big problems. It also makes me feel lucky.

Some of the miners challenges might be not sleeping as good. This is so remarkable because no one has ever done this before. What this teaches me about perserverance is that anything is possible. If I was under ground for 70 days i would go loco.

The challenge for the miners might be being afraid to go in a mine again and seeing sun light. I think their lives would be changed because you are now famous. Fame can ruin your lives because everybody will want pictures of you. For me, it would be a huge accomplishment because being underground for so long would be hard. It would be hard because you might not get much food, you could get sick. If it got boring I would play games with the other guys and get to know them. If I had a chance to work in a mine for100,000 dollars, I would still say "no".

I think that the miners were unbelievably lucky, and I am really taking in this experience because like you said, I will probably never see anything like this again.

Some challenges the miners might face now that they are out is not being used to being in the pitch black. What also might be challenging is not being used to being around so much people. Whey I think this event is so remarkable is that 33 miners probably not get trapped in a mine under the surface of the earth 2,000 feet down for 69 days again for 100 to 150 years. What I would do if I where trapped in a mine for 70 days is I would tell the miners that we would be all right. I would also find as much information about if we were going to get out.

This event is so remarkable because they created a machine to get the miners out of the hole. Also the miners challenges were probaly not getting enough exercise and walking on flat ground probaly felt weird. If i were stuck for 70 days under ground i would probaly try to keep fit and make the best of it.

I think there lifes will be changed because it will be the first time doing the things they always do. This event is very remarkable because they have been down there so long alive. I am glad they are out and alive.

I think that this is cool because the miners were under land with each-other for 69 days in the dark and no way out.I would be freaked out on the first day.
