Is it time for a change?

We read about the possibility of the U.S. government taking the penny out of circulation. From our reading we learned that for every penny that is made by the U.S. Mint the cost is 2 cents. Take a few moments and share your opinion about whether the penny should be taken out of circulation. Be sure the include several reasons to support your opinion.

should we keep the penny? YES!!! we should keep the penny. One reason we should keep the penny is when you go shopping you need a penny or all the prices will go up. Another reason we should keep the penny is because we have had it around so long that it would be a crime to give it up now. a third reason is because at king supers they have a one cent penny ride and how else can you pay for that. Also when will you get to find a penny on the street and have it be your lucky day or throw a penny in a fountain. In conclusion I think we should keep the penny.

NO! The penny should still be made. The cost will go up or down in stores and people will have trouble using money .

The penny reminds us about our President Lincoln and what he did for our country. We could stop using expensive medal like copper and zinc to save money. So the penny should go on.

I think that they should keep making pennies because lets say something cost 2 cents, you would pay with a nickel but how are you going to get change back? Another reason why they should keep making pennies is because without pennies we would have to rely on the nickel so we would have to round every thing that cost 1 cents or 2 cents up to 5 cents. Pennies has been around for so long that it would be kinda sad to never use them again. Without pennies you wound not be able to go to that store where everything is 1 cent. Also how can people take away all the pennies in the world? I mean you can hide all of your pennies and keep them. Also for fundraisers like Pennies for Patients they would have to change the name and Nickels for Patients just sounds weird. That is why I think they should keep making pennies.

I think that there should be pennies my reasons for that are 1. If we did not have pennies we would have to rely on the nickle so we would have to round up or down by fives if something was like $6.83 or something like that it would have to be $6.85 or $6.80 and I do not want to deal with that nonsense. 2. Pennies have been along for a long time so if you take them away your taking something really big away from the people of the US 3. If schools do pennies for patients or other community things for charities they would probably not raise as much money but still would raise some.

The government should not keep the penny, because it take more to make a penny then its worth. Abraham Lincoln is still is on the five. Plus when are you going to need a penny any way? You can’t buy anything with them. So why is the penny still around?

Yes, the U.S. mint should still make pennies forever. Why? Because the store’s will raise the all the prices on everything and that means us americans will spend more money. Also, Store’s are going to round their prices to 5 cents. Pennies were always in use and should continue for generations to come. In conclusion, Pennies are important so let’s keep them all and continue to use them.

Should they get rid of the penny? No because how would the cashiers would have no possible chance of giving pennies back. Also it would be harder to give change to them if it was like 99 cents. They would have to change the name for pennies for patients. This is why I think they should not get rid of the penny.

Yes the government should keep making pennies. 1 reason I say yes is because the prices would have to go up to an even 5. To because that would be really hard for the U.S. Like for charity that people sometimes put their pennies in that they do not want. Last of all if the U.S stopped making pennies then it would just be very hard. I mean I do not know why anyone, anyone at all would be happy about getting rid of pennies. Pennies are things many people do not really care about so they just donate them and stuff to charity. So there are the reasons that I say the government should keep making pennies.

I think that they should not stop making pennies because the price would go up on a lot of things like;taxes, food, and liquids. Also you how would you get change if something is $1.01 it would either the price would be raised or you would have to barter with the store cashier. And some people save up pennies and then turn them into banks for cash over and over again. Some pennies can be rare like 1944 pennies. This is my reason why I think they should not stop making pennies.

I disagree that they should take away the penny because If you buy something and it cost 13.01 you would need to pay more because there is no penny to cover that one cent. Also if a family does not have very much money the stores would half to bump up their prices and those families would run out of money quick. Last reason is if the government gets rid of the penny they won’t be afraid to get rid of the other coins and there may get rid of all of the other coins to.

I say yes the U.S should still be making pennies because how are you going to get change back and stores would rise prices. So, please do not take pennies away.

I would not take the penny out of circulation because the pennies are worth one cent and what if you had to pay for something and it cost $5.01 and you would not have a penny to pay for it.

Then you would have to rely on the nickel. Then all of the prices will go up. It would be expensive. Also, it will be to hard to find a house because it will be too expensive.

And I like the penny because you can look at the date.

I think that people should keep the penny. The penny is a old coin and a sort of useful coin.If we don't keep the coin than we would be paying more money for the stuff that costs 1.03. Stores will raise their cost so we will pay more . The penny reminds us of our president Abraham Lincoln.

I think we should keep the penny because the penny is an old coin of America. The next reason is we would be paying more than 5 cents so that would be wasting the money to be making the money for 10 cents for one nickel. The third reason is that we need to keep the penny to have a one cent coin and to keep the prices at one cent. The last reason is the penny has been around for a long time and we need to remember Abraham Lincoln.

I think that you should keep the penny, because the penny is one of the oldest coins in the world. It is a really useful coin and helps us get to uneven costs. Stores will raise their costs we will have to pay more. 1.03 will be 1.10.
